When you hear the name Pisa most people think of the leaning tower of Pisa, but there is so much more to see and do in this really cool town. From my first post, you saw that we arrived at night, saw the tower at night, looked around and headed to bed. Excited I must say, is the way I felt because I woke up the next morning and so did Whitney ready for the day!
I have to tell you again how cool the hotel was. https://www.hotelpisatower.com/en/ . The people working there were nice, helpful and it is lucky for us that our tiny amount of Italian and their English worked and we could communicate well!
We headed out with our plans. We were going to the Cathedral, the Tower, the Baptistery and the Camposanto. Well, we did go to all of them and some really cool extras stuff as well!. We went to the leaning tower first. Um, yes it is leaning. Is sort of feels like you are going on some strange ride, but I assure you, it is no ride! Those steps are no freaking joke!
Climbing up makes you realize what terrible, physical shape you really are in. Whitney is in great shape, she always… beat me to the top, but I prevailed and made it up there and wow, it was so worth it.
The view was spectacular and the weather could have not been more perfect. It was a hot day, but we Cali girls are used to that! In fact, we stated during our trip how similar Italy’s weather and terrain in some parts were just like California. Weird huh?
The tower is amazing, such an incredible piece of work, which took many, many, many years to err, complete? You have to buy a ticket to get in here and I really suggest if you can’t handle stairs at an angle and slip easy, maybe it is not for you. Here is a link to check out the ticket purchase. http://www.towerofpisa.org/tickets/
You can’t even take bags with you, there is a locker that you must leave your stuff in that you can retrieve after you go in! It is worth it for sure. I am so glad that we went and I can say that I stood at the top of the leaning tower of Pisa. FYI, that is where we saw this really cool wall that wraps around most of the city and we explored later!
As always, comments or corrections are appreciated!
